A text game reborn
A complete visual identity refresh for a classic text game — from web redesign to a launch video that captured the gaming community's attention.
Overview
Federation is an AI-powered text game with roots in the 1980s. We redesigned the web presence, created launch videos, and built a social content strategy — giving this classic a modern visual identity that honoured its heritage.

The challenge
Balancing nostalgia with modern appeal. The game had devoted fans who remembered the original — but it needed to attract today's gamers who've never seen a text adventure. The visual language had to feel retro-authentic without feeling dated.

Our approach
We extracted core visual principles from the original game — terminal typography, limited color palettes, ASCII-inspired motifs — and reinterpreted them with contemporary motion and UI patterns. The result feels like a lost classic that's been remastered.
- →Retro terminal aesthetics reinterpreted for modern screens
- →Game page designs that immerse players before they click play
- →Launch video with atmosphere and intrigue — no gameplay spoilers
- →Social shorts optimized for gaming community discovery

The outcome
The launch video drove strong community engagement, with the gaming press picking it up. Existing fans embraced the remaster aesthetic; new players discovered the game through social shorts.
